World AIDS Day 2010
On 1 December 2010 HEARD joins the global community in commemorating World AIDS Day. While eastern and southern Africa have only 5.4% of the global population it is home to a staggering 50% of people living with HIV and AIDS. There are approximately 16.1 million people infected in the region, and the numbers continue to grow.
To mark World AIDS Day, HEARD's executive director Professor Alan Whiteside will deliver a public lecture entitled, 'Safe Sex/no sex Month: Could it Work? An Innovative Response for Preventing HIV Transmission' on 1 December at Edgewood Campus (University of KwaZulu-Natal).
